I am in the UK and I watch T.V.programmes about so called animal hoarders in other parts of the world. These people take in strays which they try to help, sometimes they fail on account of the lack of funds. The authorities then step and often cease these dogs, sometimes they offer free veterinary care.

On the other hand, people in the UK are commended if they offer homes to numerous stray dogs, they’re not labelled as hoarders. Nor are they offered help to care for these dogs.

I need to get my head around this.

My brother’s apartment has white walls (no pictures), 1 plain lamp in each room, two Ikea chairs, one bar stool, huge flat screen tv, a desk, computer and a swivel chair. In his closet: three pants, two jeans, five white shirts, one pair dress shoes (new, he buys a brand new pair each month and donates the old cause he hates to polish shoes), one pair of brand new sneakers. In his kitchen, the refrigerator has only water, beer and pomengranite juice. He owns one coffee cup and a plate. He buys food for dinner and breakfast each day then tosses out the packaging because he hates to see grocery crap in his house. He throws out his mail everyday and barely looks through it. Once he tossed out a letter with a brand new credit card inside. He hates my house and thinks I am gluttonous because I bought a coffee table and bookshelves. What is his issue? Is there a tv show that will send in a crew to do an intervention and mess up his apartment?

We’re having a big yard sale here soon, but she will part with nothing.
Why are ‘things’ so important to some people?

So I took a pregnant cat from a hoarders house, because I was afraid for the cat and kittens safety and now I am unsure what to do. I am afraid she will see, and I will get in trouble. I went to this ladys house to help her with her cats but the 1 I was supposed to take had just disappeared. There were about fifty cats, dogs, and a pig. And on the open porch was a box of newborn kittens, and 1 lifeless 1 next to the box. When we left I called the cat over 1 of the other pregnant cats to the car, picked her up and just left. I am afraid I will get into trouble for doing this. I am planning on turning her in for animal abuse, but curious if you think I am in danger of getting in trouble??
She did notice she was gone, as she emailed me back asking if I had noticed her when I left. I said no, of course. I am turning her in tomorrow am.
She does love them, but they were all living outside, and were underweight. None of them are spayed and neutered. She has like seven or eight pregnant females. I offered to take the other female that had just had kittens and she said no. I could feel the backbones in the ones I touched, I know she cares about them, but I did not feel like she was going to give me 1 of the cats at all. It was her daughter in law trying to make her re home them, and I suspect she didn’t want too.
I should also mention, I live almost three hours away from these people. And the daughter in law seems just a clueless as she did.I think she posted online to try and make money from the kittens, not find them good homes. I am reporting them first thing in the morning. I feel like that is the best solution. And if it comes down to I will give the cat back, but I felt like at the time I was making the right decision as who knows what would have happened to her and her kittens if I did not take her, considering its not like I can just go back and get her on a whim since i’m that far away.
I was trying to get 2 other people to help with the cats. I didn’t really know the situation until I got there. Like I said, 3 hours away. I was told, she had a few cats. Not fifty or 60. Most of the cats were feral. But considering she was planning on keeping the momma cat and kittens, who happened to not be feral, I would say there is definitely a problem with that. If she has a bunch of feral cats fine, I comprehend that, but the ones I saw were not that feral, and at least she could try and re-home the kittens if possible. It was a snap decision to take her, as I figured she might be better with me, since she*s on account of have kittens any day. Now if that other very little kitten did die from natural birth fine, but it looked like she picked it up and chucked it in a corner. The sack was still around its feet…
Also if I keep her, meaning if I do not have to give her back to this lady. I am planning on getting her vaccinated, wormed, and spayed. As well as ALL kittens. I do not want to see any of them in a situation like this.

Besides the fact that the hoarder of wealth has the ability to do so much more harm to the world around him than the simple hoarder of materials, who simply overflows his home and perhaps has a negative impact on his family and perhaps neighbors. Essentially in either case, isn’t it just the same ideas of insecurity that drive these people to think that no matter how much they have, it’s just never enough…

Just wondering why 1 instance is so over glorified in our media, while the other is looked upon as a condition usually requiring some sort of counseling to correct.
Bucky – It’s my business when it negatively affects my country and those around me. Remember that whole We The People thing that seems to make you con’s so sick just to even think about?
Bucky – The nice thing about your charity work is that you are so humble about it. You obviously are secure enough in yourself that you do not feel the need to point out that side of yourself any chance you get…. Like for totally unrelated questions on YA for example.
Bucky – Why is it that you feel the need to overly promote how wonderful you are, to people you have never met and know nothing about? This is YA. You haven’t even attempted to answer the question being posed, you are simply using this forum to crow about how wonderful, you may or may not be. While at the same time bragging about the fact that you endorse the conservative’s who happen to be the very ones promoting economic policy that has creates poverty and creates the very environment that makes it so difficult for people to stand on their own, and thus creates the need for charity in the first place. This is not a word game, this is called reality.
