Do you find shows like Intervention & Hoarders exploitive?

While I find the shows informative, and I feel they really help change these people’s lives. I also wondered if some people found the shows to exploits these people for entertainment. ( even though they do provide help )
Just curious.

Has anyone ever hit someone on HOARDERS?

I’m pretty sure both my mom and my grandma are hoarders. My dad and I have both tried to help them and clean the house, but my grandma lives in OH , we live in KS , and my mom does not believe she is a hoarder. It’s not as bad as the tv shows like on tlc, but it still majorly affects my life. I do not know who to go to for help, because I think my dad has given up. My sister is now in college, so it barely affects her, and she does not care about the house anymore. She comes back every other weekend, but it’s only a couple days at a time for her. I’ve been living like this my whole life, and i’m tired of it. Where can i go for help?

Too many cats, hoarder possibly. Very unsanitary conditions. How do i get this person to do something about it?

I know this guy who has ten cats in his house. It’s very dirty. One of the kittens is really sick. He is an idiot. I do not wanna call animal control because am afraid if the cats do not get adopted they’ll be killed. What can I do and how do i get this person to do something about this.
The sick kitten has a very runny nose, she sounds like she can barely breath (ive seen her) I feel really bad for these animals. I’m gonna do what ever I can. I dont have the $$ to help. I have a dog of my own.

I have 4 pet rats, 2 males and 2 females. All get adequate care, males are kept separate from girls, and the cages are large. She refuses to allow me to get any more because I’ll become a hoarder. That’s what she says every time. I have never had an accidental litter, or a planned litter either so it’s not like she does not trust me to keep them separate anymore.
I have 1 dog and 1 cat. The cat is homocidal towards other cats so I gave up asking for another kitten a long time ago. She still refuses to allow me to get a Rat Terrier puppy because then every time I want another dog I’ll just run out and get it. So not true. I have great self-control when it comes to getting brand new animals, I have never come home with a pet that ‘just needed me.’ I have always asked. (Not to mention I could not afford to buy any dog I wanted XD)
Why does my mom think that I would become a hoarder or that I already am? I only have the 5 pets since the dog is my mom’s so it’s not like my room is crawling with sixty three rats. How can I convince her that I am not a hoarder and that I take fine care of my pets? It’s irritating that she does not trust me this way.

I think the hoarding mentality comes from having divorced, fairly poor parents growing up. Anyway, regardless of how it happened, now I have way too much crap in my room, accumulated over the years. I can’t seem to throw anything out because I look at it and instantly I can envision multiple scenarios where it will be vital to have.

Anyone have any advice on how to throw things out, but only the *right* things?

i have 2 dogs, a cat, and a guinea pig. i had three dogs, but realized it was too much for me, so i found a home for her. i often go on craigs list, and look up baby dogs and baby kitties and want to buy them. i also like senior dogs. i go to the pet store and fiddle with the idea of getting another guinea pig, and often stop at shelters to look at kittens. i also look on petfinder often.

i cant afford any more animal or emotionally handle another animal. but it have these huge urges to have more. what can i do to stop this and keep taking control? i fear ill end up getting another pet!
well my two dogs arent stressful, but the three dogs were. i couldnt give 1 on 1 time with the three dogs, i can with the 2.

Either WAY, Hoarders hoard their things, whether it be garbage or useless items because they see value in them. These 1% elitists find value in pieces of paper with no elemental value whatsoever (gold, silver, copper), only man made artificial value. They seems more mentally unstable than hoarders. Hoarders hurt themselves by creating a bad environment for them mentally and physically, Corporate elitists hurt everyone, literally billions of people and create terrible environments as far as pollution goes. idk… just a thought on WHY the hell ones a mental disorder while the other more dangerous aspect of it is considered perfectly fine.. ur thoughts?
Thanks for your answers guys. Glad to hear from smart thinkers, really. I’ve always wondered and still do wonder what the basis is for judging whats right and wrong. …and the way we’re living now… its just hurting so many people… thanks again
